Develop an understanding of the principles behind and skills in the practice of user interface (UI) design. For both students with no design experience and those with a small amount of design experience. Students will learn to design user experiences that meet usability, accessibility, and intellectual property standards for digital experiences that support community information resource needs.

• Demonstrate the fundamentals of UI design
• Evaluate digital experiences for information organization, content representation, design best practices, and site navigation.
• Apply basic UI design theories and practices
• Justify the importance of UI design for information professionals.

Course Structure

This is an introductory course, and as such, the full scope of this topic is presented. You will receive a lot of material, but you are not being tested on it. Instead, you are being challenged to absorb as much as you can for your own understanding and apply the material to the projects you'll be doing.

• Figma
• Google Fonts
• Microsoft Teams (this will be used for both in and out-of-class communication)
• Zoom
